At this small water pond that had been drying up on the edge of a retention pond, wasps were landing. There were red wasps and yellow jackets mixed together on the water surface and in the air above the water.
Apparently they did not mind my presence as I leaned over to get close-up pictures. The wasps landed, walked on the water tension, and then rapidly took off. I assume they were drinking.
