| This
carved wood object was made from white pine with bird's eye grain. I made the female shape one afternoon using a planer and various saws and sanders. Months later I tinkered with the remaining wood, and suddenly pulled out the original and built a 3-D box around it. It is nearly impossible to retrofit objects together and have them work perfectly. But here, the frame created a larger piece. Later I coated the wood with orange shellac that added another interesting component. Luck by luck. |
