Oil pastel is a soft crayon that dries slowly over several years. Adding multiple coats of oil pastel is generally not possible, but it can be done with interesting effects by first applying a thin coat of assorted light colors to the surface <> afterwards apply a generous coat of dark color over the top <> then scrape away the dark color to reveal bright colors below.
